Here&#8217;s the mystical, etherworldly <b>Anna Chong<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/acpt3.jpg\"><br \/>\nNo, this is not Photoshop &#8211; she really did look like that.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/acpt2.jpg\"><br \/>\nAll thanks to my clever framing from the balcony of No Black Tie, of course.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/acpt4.jpg\"><br \/>\nA standard, clear shot. She was very engaging, telling us how she came about each song, in a uniquely humorous way. Funny then, that her music is anything but funny &#8211; it will bring you into another dimension.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/acpt5.jpg\"><br \/>\nReza Salleh was invited on stage, to sing along to one of the songs she wrote with his vocal part in mind. Apparently, she writes melodies with temporary nonsense syllables, and puts in the words later. However, she simply didn&#8217;t put in the words this time, leaving the nonsensical syllables in for both of them to sing. It works.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/acpt6.jpg\"><br \/>\nHe was also emcee and organizer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/acpt7.jpg\"><br \/>\nThe legendary <b>Pete Teo<\/b>, who reappeared in the city after disappearing to tend to a farm.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/acpt8.jpg\"><br \/>\nHe requests for pin drop silence.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/acpt9.jpg\"><br \/>\nWe could then truly feel his folk soul struggle, expressed in his trademark vibrato.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/acpt10.jpg\"><br \/>\nJust as Anna Chong, he regaled in tales of his past, and explained how each song came to be. Truly a treat!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/acpt11.jpg\"><br \/>\nAz Samad was also invited to play the erhu bit of <i>Jesselton Tonight<\/i> using guitar instead.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/acpt12.jpg\"><br \/>\nI don&#8217;t remember what was going on here.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/acpt13.jpg\"><br \/>\nHis cheeky way of asking if we wanted an encore.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/acpt14.jpg\"><br \/>\nHe may have some white hair, but he&#8217;s every bit the playful schoolboy on stage with a mischievious grin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>17th August 2015: NBT &#038; Reza Salleh presents Anna Chong &#038; Pete Teo.
