Herman Ramanado, one heck of a groovy cat, was on bass guitar this time!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad3.jpg\"><br \/>\nAz basks in the smoke and lights.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad4.jpg\"><br \/>\nZalila Lee on percussion.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad5.jpg\"><br \/>\nI always enjoyed The Venue&#8217;s lights &#8211; they don&#8217;t dance as much as others do, so I don&#8217;t get large variances in exposure and white balance.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad6.jpg\"><br \/>\nZalila on cajon.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad7.jpg\"><br \/>\nAmirhooman, a guitar student of Az&#8217;s in the audience, has a damn cool moustache.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad8.jpg\"><br \/>\nThey did a cover of Al Green&#8217;s Let&#8217;s Stay Together. I&#8217;m not sure if this was the point where I got the song stuck in my head, because it bubbled up a year later.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad9.jpg\"><br \/>\nDuring the intermission, <b>Zyan<\/b> performed a few songs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad10.jpg\"><br \/>\nAnd now we&#8217;re back!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad11.jpg\"><br \/>\nThe night ended with pianist, <b>David Gomes<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad1.jpg\"><br \/>\nBefore the show, a bunch of us were sitting outside The Venue, when we realized that all our phones were running on different operating systems! How rare that would be &#8211; clockwise from top &#8211; iOS, Windows Phone, Android, BlackBerry OS, and Symbian.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad12.jpg\"><br \/>\nThen, on the 27th of August 2012, I was down in Jalan Mesui for one of the longer-running establishments of the music scene &#8211; No Black Tie! The event was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/184797664986039\/\" target=\"_BLANK\">Az Samad &#8211; Solo Guitar Retrospective @ No Black Tie<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad13.jpg\"><br \/>\nAz and his knock-on-wood harmonics.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad14.jpg\"><br \/>\nHis parents were in the crowd.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad15.jpg\"><br \/>\nThe William Jeffrey Jones Proteus Electric Guitar.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad16.jpg\"><br \/>\nSome days I wish they had hair lights on the stage.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad17.jpg\"><br \/>\nAz on ukulele!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad18.jpg\"><br \/>\nThe next day was the 28th of August 2012, where I found myself at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/432877046758854\/\" target=\"_BLANK\">Feedback Open Mic<\/a> at The Bee, Publika. He does a loop pedal vocal orchestra.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad31.jpg\"><br \/>\nIn his past life, he laid out some funky, jazzy tunes.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad32.jpg\"><br \/>\n<b>Fazz<\/b> was a pleasant surprise. They played what would sound like cabaret jazz. This was the first time I&#8217;d ever seen them &#8211; what a first impression! Note that Raja Farouque was on guitar and not his usual double-bass role in the band.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad33.jpg\"><br \/>\nEverybody looked and dressed different. This was their pre-hipster phase.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad34.jpg\"><br \/>\nWhat a voice! Kevin Vong stuns the crowd.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/glaringnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/mfad35.jpg\"><br \/>\nSheryl Goh said I had a nice T-shirt. It was An Honest Mistake&#8217;s first purple dinosaur shirt, and she was singing in the band.
