This marks the first time I use slow shutter speeds with flash (instead of the default 1\/60 seconds) at this venue, always getting frustrated otherwise. (Jamasia has colored lighting, so it&#8217;s not so bad.)<\/p>\n<p>They started with the open-mikers first, like <b>Jay<\/b>, the guy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/?p=501\">I once said<\/a> sounded like Billy Corgan singing Kurt Cobain, which I missed. Why? I went to pee at the male toilet upstairs, and couldn&#8217;t unlock the door! A guy climbed in from a panel above to break open the handle and unscrew the bolt, but that didn&#8217;t work either, until he used the handle to open it again. I came out to some cheers. The guy who was stuck in the toilet!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm1.jpg\"><br \/>\nI came out in time for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.khailee.info\" target=\"_BLANK\">Khai-Lee<\/a> who might&#8217;ve found it a bit dark to find the guitar frets. \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm2.jpg\"><br \/>\nI think this dude was <s>Imam<\/s> Piko (thanks Mung for the correction!) He received roaring applause. The best display of shared sarcasm. \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm3.jpg\"><br \/>\nI think these dudes were <b>Chi Too<\/b> and <b>Hon Mun<\/b> on the right. (And yay he can sing.)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm4.jpg\"><br \/>\nI think his name was <s>Amin<\/s> Hakim (Freedom Film Fest 2005 award-winning filmmaker for Romantik ISA, thanks Mung again!), and he sang bluesy love songs to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.azmylyunor.com\" target=\"_BLANK\">Azmyl Yunor<\/a>. (Though I think there are better excuses to get free entry to his gigs. :P)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm5.jpg\"><br \/>\n<b>Mekarnya Satu Matian<\/b> read some poems, and some could sniff his rapperness from a <s>mile<\/s> meter away.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm6.jpg\"><br \/>\n<b>Estrella<\/b>, oh how pretty and sweet voices they had to jazzy beats.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm7.jpg\"><br \/>\nA haw-haw-hawt chick makes up one third of <b>Oddstars<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm8.jpg\"><br \/>\n<b>Alang<\/b> of alternative-ish grunge unit <b>Men Under Zero Effort<\/b> is the other third.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm9.jpg\"><br \/>\nHeadliner <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brokenscar.com\" target=\"_BLANK\">Broken Scar<\/a>, featuring <b>Zalila Lee<\/b> on percussion, <b>Jerral Khor<\/b> on guitar, <b>Kevin<\/b> on guitar and vocals, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xanga.com\/aldatan\" target=\"_BLANK\">Alda<\/a> on bass. Subject to change; parts may vary.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm10.jpg\"><br \/>\nBesides singing soundtracks for <a href=\"http:\/\/lastcommunist.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_BLANK\">documentaries that were recently banned despite approval<\/a>, Zalila also supplies beats.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm11.jpg\"><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wongkeenhing.com\" target=\"_BLANK\">Justin Wong<\/a> is recognizable with his black Suzuki acoustic guitar.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm12.jpg\"><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shcksystm.com\/\" target=\"_BLANK\">Shock System<\/a> had the white political rap sound. Great guitar riffs and song dynamics. I thought they&#8217;d sound like Rage Against The Machine on electric.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm13.jpg\"><br \/>\nZalila and Jerral back <b>Nicole<\/b> of <a href=\"http:\/\/rhapsody-music.blogspot.com\" target=\"_BLANK\">Rhapsody<\/a> for an Alanis Morissette cover. Gig old-timer <b>Peter Hassan Brown<\/b> then joins for the cover of <i>Time After Time<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm14.jpg\"><br \/>\nAzmyl Yunor takes the after-headliner open mike slot because nobody else wants to play.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/trdm15.jpg\"><br \/>\nThese church guys are fantastic, (plus they got <s>stage<\/s> performing stool persona) and they&#8217;re later joined by who I assume is a church girl.<\/p>\n<p>Damn my memory, must be all those drinks people ask my assistance to finish.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>And now, for a trip down Changkat Bukit Bintang, for the Troubadours gig at La Bodega KL on the 7th of May 2006.
