\n21st August 2014: Rock is Dead?<\/a>, at Laundry Bar, The Curve.<\/p>\n


\nBut first, some self-promotion…<\/p>\n


\nNightshift commissioned me to make a collage of their band and for licensing to use on a poster (I charge if pictures make it to prints or posters.) Always nice to see my work up somewhere!<\/p>\n


\nFirst act of the night: Flying Pan<\/b>.<\/p>\n


\nA Malaysian J-Rock band!<\/p>\n


\nThis shot was taken with my Sony A7S with the Mitakon\/ZhongYi Speedmaster 50mm F0.95 lens.<\/p>\n


\nSame lens, but on my infrared-modded Sony Alpha NEX-5. I did not put the infrared pass filter on the lens, so it is both visible light and infrared mixed in.<\/p>\n


\nGiven that the NEX-5 is APS-C a minor telephoto portrait effect is achieved.<\/p>\n


\nThis time, with the infrared pass filter.<\/p>\n


\nGuest vocalist from Japan! Mixed visible and infrared light.<\/p>\n


\nAnother mixed one.<\/p>\n


\nThen came the band I hadn’t seen in a long time…<\/p>\n


\nDragon Red<\/b>!<\/p>\n


\nSome personnel changes – Brandon moved from guitar to drums.<\/p>\n


\nSlyde and Camero still on rap and bass respectively.<\/p>\n


\nAdam on full freak vocals. Oh, and infrared (with the infrared pass filter, allowing only infrared.) This, with flash, on the Sony E 16mm F2.8 pancake.<\/p>\n


\nSince I only brought two lenses it should be obvious which is which…<\/p>\n


\n…plus the wider view, but not a wide-angle view, is probably that of the full-frame A7S.<\/p>\n


\nInfrared gives a very interesting look to the eyes, when flashed.<\/p>\n


\nAwesome screamer!<\/p>\n


\n…not so screamer!<\/p>\n


\nAnother screamer!<\/p>\n


\nThen came these boys…<\/p>\n


\n…hard-rocking Blister<\/b>!<\/p>\n


\nThey go from blues rock to heavy metal.<\/p>\n


\nAC\/DC, Led Zeppelin…<\/p>\n


\n…and a whole lotta Gibson love.<\/p>\n


\nAwesome glass slide!<\/p>\n


\nMeanwhile, outside, Jyorin through pure infrared.<\/p>\n


\nThen came progressive rock band Black Lightbulb<\/b>.<\/p>\n


\nI’d call them instrumental, but singing with them that night was Hameer Zawawi.<\/p>\n

\nI’m sure she likes this picture.<\/p>\n
