(Yes, it&#8217;s showing until Sunday 7th January 2007&#8230; which is amazing for my blog-updating speed.)<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, The Breakfast Club was one of the more famous 80&#8217;s teen movies, made into a play. Five kids are in detention, all of them very different.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/tbcp3.jpg\"><br \/>\nYou got the goth (<i>The Basketcase<\/i>), played by Krystle Wong (who once again says about nothing at the start, like in <i>Showers Of Flowers<\/i>, one of the plays in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/?p=728\">fiftynineminutes<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/tbcp9.jpg\"><br \/>\nThen there&#8217;s the hot chick (okay, technically she&#8217;s <i>The Princess<\/i>), played by Christine Ellis (who, this time, gets loads of conversation unlike in fiftynineminutes.)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/tbcp10.jpg\"><br \/>\nReuben W.J. Kang (in front) plays <i>The Athlete<\/i>, with Kelvin Wong as John Bender (<i>The Criminal<\/i>).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/tbcp6.jpg\"><br \/>\n<i>The Brain<\/i> is played by comedic genius Branavan Aruljothi, a nerd who got himself a fake ID so he could vote! (Don&#8217;t get the caption? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/?p=614\">Check out my Rojak! review<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Yep, all of them were in <i>fiftynineminutes<\/i>. Yay to more youth-oriented plays without brain-stressing abstract themes!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/tbcp5.jpg\"><br \/>\nOh and there&#8217;s also the principal, which Matt Groening admits to basing Principal Seymour Skinner on. Yep. The movie influenced the creator of The Simpsons!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/tbcp2.jpg\"><br \/>\nJohn Bender the foul-mouthed miscreant brings them into trouble. Yep, Bender&#8217;s the cursing robot from Futurama, also created by Matt Groening.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s also a scene where John Bender tells the principal to &#8220;<i>Eat my shorts.<\/i>&#8221; \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/tbcp7.jpg\"><br \/>\nWould they be friends after spending a few hours in detention?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/tbcp11.jpg\"><br \/>\n&#8230;or maybe more?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/tbcp4.jpg\"><br \/>\n(To that thought.)<\/p>\n<p><b>The Goth<\/b>: I&#8217;ll do anything sexual. I don&#8217;t need a million dollars to do it either.<br \/>\n<b>The Princess<\/b>: You&#8217;re lying.<br \/>\n<b>The Goth<\/b>: I already have. I&#8217;ve done just about everything there is except a few things that are illegal. I&#8217;m a nymphomaniac.<br \/>\n<b>The Princess<\/b>: Lie.<br \/>\n<b>The Brain<\/b>: Are your parents aware of this?<br \/>\n<b>The Goth<\/b>: The only person I told was my shrink.<br \/>\n<b>The Athlete<\/b>: And what did he do when you told him?<br \/>\n<b>The Goth<\/b>: He nailed me.<br \/>\n<b>The Princess<\/b>: Very nice.<br \/>\n<b>The Goth<\/b>: I don&#8217;t think that from a legal standpoint what he did can be construed as rape, since I paid him.<\/p>\n<p>(Stolen from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0088847\/quotes\" target=\"_BLANK\">IMDB&#8217;s Quotes<\/a>. The Matt Groening references were also spotted in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Breakfast_Club\" target=\"_BLANK\">Wikipedia<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/zimages\/tbcp1.jpg\"><br \/>\nThanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/a-blog-a-day.blogspot.com\" target=\"_BLANK\">Click Chick!<\/a> for letting me take pictures. That preview night had four distinct clicks; Kok Keong&#8217;s Olympus E-500 in the background with focus confirmation beep; <a href=\"http:\/\/asyraflee.blogspot.com\" target=\"_BLANK\">Asyraf Lee<\/a>&#8216;s Nikon D70s which could <b>still<\/b> be heard from across the hall (and had a mirror slapping sound similiar to my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/?p=773\">Olympus OM-2000<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glaringnotebook.com\/?p=781\">Sony A100<\/a>); my Sony A100, on manual focus; and Grace on her Canon EOS 350D (with distinct whizzing shutter sound).
